Description: A renowned trillionaire industrial mogul, Prof. Arkane Hartache is the CEO of Hartache Industries, perhaps the most advanced technological company in the world. Hartache Industries also consists of several subsidiaries; Hartache Labs, Hartache Tech, Hartache Computers, Hartache Aerospace, Hartache Dynamics, Hartache Robotics, and several more branches. His companies have also researched and utilized several different kinds of energy engines such as electric, solar, chemical, wind, hydroelectric, nuclear, cold fusion, thermal, magnetic, plasma, and superconductive energy, among others. Prof. Hartache also wishes to produce newer and more efficient energy sources for the world such as perpetual, subatomic, even hydroquantum energy. Prof. Hartache's greatest dream, however, was to create the first city in outer space, a place he has decided to call Star City. Several years before the events of Pokémon Peace Squad: SSC, Prof. Hartache shot off into space in order to bring his dream to life, never returning to Earth until that dream was fulfilled. In due time, Star City had been born, a city of monumental proportions, consisting of technology that's far more advanced than even places such as LaRousse City, Metal City, Grand Metropolis, or any other advanced city. The city itself contains futuristic buildings, hologram billboards, sky-high paths, moving sidewalks, energy pathways, flying cars, sensor-based security systems, and much, much more. Prof. Hartache also shows his prowess as a genius by having built countless groups of advanced robots, born of artificial intelligence, and having helped construct this huge space city. Also protecting Star City is his first invention, V.E.R.I.C.A.S., a hologram cube even more advanced than the robots. However, as a means to protect Star City, Prof. Hartache has created countless varieties of advanced weapons and defense systems. The most powerful of these weapons happens to be a huge energy cannon called the Solaris Cannon, which runs on power sources obtained from two legendary Pokémon, which he has managed to create cybernetic replicas of to provide those energy sources, that once applied, those energy charges are permanent. While meant to help protect mankind, the Solaris Cannon has the power to destroy an entire planet. It's because of this that Star City could become the target of villains and evildoers. This has happened once, so for all we know, it could happen again. The events of Pokémon Peace Squad: The Space Shield Crisis begins with Prof. Hartache having created a new project, named the Space Shield Network. The Space Shield Network consists of several arrays of super-advanced satellites armed with multiple super lasers to repel cosmic threats from Earth, such as meteors or even aliens (if such an event ever happens in the future). Prof. Hartache's work could once again fall into evil hands, however.

Description: Prof. Hartache's first invention, the Virtual Electronic Robotic Intelligence Computing Artificial System, or V.E.R.I.C.A.S. for short, is the world's most advanced artificial intelligence entity. V.E.R.I.C.A.S. normally appears as a cube-shaped hologram that consists of millions of smaller cubes forming it. The image of a female face is presented on all sides of the cube and along with her voice seems to be based off of Prof. Hartache's late wife, Yuriko. V.E.R.I.C.A.S. is a revolutionary singular consciousness, which unlike any other hologram system, does not rely on generators or strips of any kind, but has the ability to move around freely throughout Star City. She has spawned entire kinds of robots found in Star City to assist Prof. Hartache and has even designed many of the defense and safety systems of Star City and even several of the facilities. An example is that V.E.R.I.C.A.S. has decreased traffic fatalities by 15% that of Goldenrod City in one year alone. She also designed all the virtual tracks that are used in Star City Raceway down to very last detail. She has even designed the sensor strip system that can be seen throughout the entirety of Star City. V.E.R.I.C.A.S. also has the ability to display video data of any point of any given time in Star City, regardless of whether or not there are cameras, sensor strips, or any other recording device there; she can even bring up visual data from completely empty areas of outer space within the Star City area. What is even more amazing is that V.E.R.I.C.A.S. can bring up detailed data on perhaps any person in the known world, including age, height, weight, images, location, and even such things as Pokémon or even weapons that person has! She has the ability to display maps and data of any known location in Star City and even any place on Earth! V.E.R.I.C.A.S. is also capable of operating and reprogramming any kinds of technology found within Star City, even things that aren't originally from Star City that someone may have brought with them. V.E.R.I.C.A.S. also happens to not be defenseless, as under duress, she can create energy surges to destroy any threats to her and can also generate digital barriers to shield her and others, making her an entity way ahead of her time. In addition to being able to speak and think for herself, V.E.R.I.C.A.S. can duplicate herself, teleport to any location in Star City, and can even enter cyberspace at will! V.E.R.I.C.A.S. has a huge positronic core located at the very top of Automation Tower that allows her to integrate herself into all of Star City, giving all computerized voices that are heard in the city a form of her voice, including domestic A.I. systems for homes, which every such domicile in Star City has, each one with its own distinct personality. Her core is well protected and shielded, making damaging her next to impossible. However, since her A.I. is so advanced, even though she is loyal to Prof. Hartache and protecting everyone in Star City, if V.E.R.I.C.A.S. were to ever rebel, either on her own or by reprogramming (which is nearly impossible), her core would instantly self-destruct in order to prevent her misuse. To make a long story short, V.E.R.I.C.A.S. is something quite amazing. In Pokémon Peace Squad: The Space Shield Crisis, Prof. Hartache sends out V.E.R.I.C.A.S. in order to find anyone that can help liberate Star City from Team Draco. She makes contact with the chosen character early on and from then on, assists him or her and also gives him or her information, even becoming friends along the way.
