Note: These are of course not all the characters playable in the game. These are just some of the dozens and dozens of characters in the game.

-Techno Blast: Ranged/Damaging/Attack/Normal. Used for offense. Attack's type depends on Drive held by user; type is Normal if no Drive is held.
Ghetsis: Reshiram's Blue Flare/Zekrom's Bolt Strike, Black Kyurem's Freeze Shock/White Kyurem's Ice Burn, Arceus's Judgement
When playing as Ghetsis, you have two options for which his set of Pokémon are, "B" or "W". If you have it set to B, you have Reshiram and Black Kyurem. If you have it set it W, you have Zekrom and White Kyurem.
If you have Arceus equipped, if you're using a DS, 3DS, or a Wii U GamePad as a controller, a menu for all 16 Plates appears on the screen and you can select from any one and change Arceus's type to that of the selected Plate. This also changes the type of Judgement to that type. At any time, you may select "No Plate" to go back to Normal-type. You can also use Select to cycle through the Plate options.
-Blue Flare: Ranged/Damaging/Attack/Fire. Used for offense. May burn a foe. (Power increases under lava.) (Can't be used underwater.)
-Bolt Strike: Melee/Damaging/Attack/Electric. Used for offense. May paralyze a foe.
-Ice Burn: Ranged/Damaging/Attack/Ice. Charges power for 10 seconds, then strikes. May burn a foe. (Chance for burn removed underwater.)
-Freeze Shock: Ranged/Damaging/Attack/Ice. Charges power for 10 seconds, then strikes. May paralyze a foe.
-Judgement: Ranged/Damaging/Attack/Normal. Used for offense. Attack's type depends on weapon, shield, or scope held by user; type is Normal if no weapon, shield, or scope is held.

To unlock Mario: Clear the <SPOLIER> in Normal Mode.
To unlock Sonic: Clear the <SPOILER> in Jenny Mode.
To unlock Pulseman: Clear the <SPOILER> in Expert Mode.
Note: In Single Player Mode, none of these characters have cutscenes.
Mario: Ninetales's Ember, Glalie's Powder Snow (R is a hyperjump action)
-Ember: Ranged/Damaging/Support/Fire. Used to burn enemies. (Power increases under lava.) (Can't be used underwater.)
-Powder Snow: Ranged/Damaging/Defensive/Ice. Used for defense. Chance for freeze. (Can't freeze foe under lava.)
For Mario's hyperjump action, simply pressing the R button works the same as Liza's superjump, albeit with a shade more in the distance category. If you hold the button down for up to 2 seconds, you can crouch and charge an even bigger jump--the longer you hold, the higher and/or farther the jump is.
Mario doesn't have much spoken dialogue, but whatever he does have is in English regardless of what language the game's being played in depending on the Wii U's language settings.
Sonic: Raichu's Electro Ball, Sandslash's Gyro Ball (R button performs a Super Peel Out action)
-Electro Ball: Ranged/Damaging/Attack/Electric. Used for offense. Damage depends on difference between the Speed stats of target and user.
-Gyro Ball: Melee/Damaging/Attack/Steel. Used for offense. Damage depends on difference between the Jump stats of target and user.
For Sonic's Super Peel Out action, holding down R charges the attack up. The longer you hold, the longer the dash lasts for. During the Super Peel Out, Sonic is invincible to enemies and damages them upon contact.
For any stage that has Sonic as an assist character, since you're already playing as Sonic, you'll just go straight to his section of the stage like you would in Expert Mode or Master Mode.
Pulseman: Pikachu's Volt Tackle, Rotom's Ominous Wind (R button performs Volteccer*)
Rotom will always appear in Normal Form.
-Volt Tackle: Melee/Damaging/Attack/Electric. Used for offense. User suffers recoil.
-Ominous Wind: Ranged/Damaging/Attack/Ghost. Used for offense. May increase user's stats. (Can't be used underwater or under lava.)
*-In order to perform Volteccer, Pulseman must first build up an electrical charge. Getting hit by electric-based attacks instantly gives him a charge, but it's better to just move around to gain one.
For any stage with Pulseman as an assist character, since you're already playing as Pulseman, you'll just go straight to his section of the stage like you would in Expert Mode or Master Mode. Also, if playing the Research Lab part of Research Facility, the objective where you rescue Pulseman is removed.

Wreck-It-Ralph: Conkeldurr's Stone Edge, Golem's Earthquake, Slaking's Giga Impact
-Stone Edge: Melee/Damaging/Attack/Rock. Used for offense. May deliver an instant-knockout blow.
-Earthquake: Ranged?/Damaging/Attack/Ground. Used for wide-range strikes. (Can't be used underwater or under lava unless at the very bottom, and range underwater or under lava is reduced.)
-Giga Impact: Melee/Damaging/Attack/Normal. Used for powerful offense, but temporarily slows down user.
Wreck-It-Ralph is only available to those living in North America or Europe. Wreck-It-Ralph doesn't have much spoken dialogue, but whatever he does have is in English regardless of what language the game's being played in depending on the Wii U's language settings. Also, all dialogue from Wreck-It-Ralph is borrowed from the movie of the same name.
Miku Hatsune: Farfetch'd's Leaf Blade, Jigglypuff's Sing, Meloetta's Psychic
Meloetta will always appear in Aria Form.
-Leaf Blade: Melee/Damaging/Attack/Grass. Used for offense. May deliver an instant-knockout blow.
-Sing: Ranged/Nondamaging/Support/Normal. Used to disorient enemies. (Air meter depletes faster underwater.)
-Psychic: Ranged/Damaging/Support/Psychic. Used for moving obstacles.
Miku is available in all regional versions of the game (Miku has had some appearances in the US). Miku doesn't have much spoken dialogue, but whatever she does have is in Japanese regardless of what language the game's being played in depending on the Wii U's language settings.
Mirai Suenaga: Leavanny's X-Scissor, Solrock's Overheat, Victini's Zen Headbutt
-X-Scissor: Melee/Damaging/Attack/Bug. Used for offense.
-Overheat: Ranged/Damaging/Attack/Fire. Used for offense. Range and power diminishes with each hit. (Power and range increases under lava.) (Can't be used underwater.)
-Zen Headbutt: Melee/Damaging/Attack/Psychic. Used for offense. May cause foe to flinch.
Mirai is only available to those living in Japan or Asia. Mirai doesn't have much spoken dialogue, but whatever she does have is in Japanese regardless of what language the game's being played in depending on the Wii U's language settings.
