Cutscene: We see a flashback of the lab where Mewtwo was created, where Mewtwo, floating in a large capsule, is being studied by the scientists that created it. At this point, a figure enters the lab, the figure in question resembles Colress of Team Plasmic. He asks the scientists how Mewtwo's development is coming along, with the head one responding that using the DNA and data that Team Plasmic somehow managed to obtain and utilize, they have succeeded in creating a Mewtwo, and that it's been completed. However, they still need to run some tests before it can be used. Colress tells the scientists that Lord Ghetsis is not a forgiving person and that they need to double their efforts. With that said, Colress says that once Mewtwo is ready, Team Plasmic will have the strongest Pokémon ever created at their command and that Team Plasmic's goals can be achieved.
Cutscene: As the flashback ends, we see Mewtwo floating just outside the area where the Plasma Maze is when the chosen character comes by. As the character comes by, he or she is then suddenly stopped by a grid of psychic energy materializing, extending endlessly in both directions. At this point, Mewtwo floats down to the chosen character and approaches him or her, asking if he or she is <character's name>. The character says that they are and that they're glad to see Mewtwo again, but Mewtwo states that they've never met before, that it's not the Mewtwo they're familiar with. Before explaining anything else, Mewtwo envelops both of them in a sphere of psychic energy, and they both teleport out of the area.
