WORLD MAPS
Pokémon Peace Squad Infinity offers a new experience when it comes to selecting stages, and that is with World Maps. Each Episode comes with its own map, which depicts the environment for that Episode. While there's a path that links each stage with one another, you're able to move around the map in a grid format much like you would in a main series Pokémon game. You will not be able to move over things such as gaps or through something such as lava, but you're able to swim through things such as water. In addition, there may be raised or lowered areas of ground (you can drop down to lower areas).
There are also a number of objects to be found on the World Maps. For instance, there are springs that will bounce you to other parts of the map, such as raised areas you can't get to. Also, each type of character has things that only they can reach. Speed-type characters have raised rails that they can move on, Shooter-type characters have walls that only they can destroy, and Search-type characters have grates that they can climb up or down. You can change characters at any time when on a World Map (except before clearing the first stage for that Episode, in which you only have access to the initial character).
World Maps have a number of different things on them that you can interact with. Here's the lowdown on each of them:
Stage: These are the stages for the Episode. When selecting a stage, you have options consisting of Normal Play, Jenny Mode (once accessed), Mission Mode (once missions for the stage are unlocked), or Time Trial (after the stage is cleared). The next stage is only accessible once the one before it is cleared. (A path will be drawn leading to the stage once it's unlocked.) SP stages only appear on the map once they're unlocked.
Boss: This is the main boss for the Episode, which is only accessible once the third stage in the Episode is cleared (once again, a path will be made to the boss).
PeaceSquad HeliBase: This is the Pokémon Peace Squad's mobile base, located near the start of the map and always accessible to all characters. Selecting it takes you to the base. Note that the Final Episode does not have this accessible.
Item: This is an item that you can collect that will be stored in your inventory to use in stages. If your inventory is full, you can't collect this item.
Challenge: This is a special challenge that you can take part in. There's one challenge for each type of character for each Episode. The challenge takes place in an area based on the environment of the map.
Enemy: This is a random enemy (human or robotic), which moves around the map constantly. If you bump into the enemy, you'll be taken to an area based on the environment of the map. Here, you'll have to defeat a number of that kind of enemy. If you manage to defeat all the enemies, you'll be given a random item.
Minigame: This is a minigame that you can take part in. The minigames consist of:
Draw Cards: You get to choose one of six cards and collect the item or prize underneath. If you get a red X, then you get nothing.
Scratch Cards: You uncover three spaces from a grid of nine. The possible spaces are X Attack, X Defend, X Speed, X Health, X Jump, or a red X. You get those items depending on how many you uncover.
Slot Machine: You spin three slot reels and try to match up three symbols. Depending on what you match up, you get various amounts of money. Once you've spun the slot reels three times, the game is over.
Memory Match: From a 4 x 6 grid, you choose one card, then choose another card. If the two cards match, then you get the item depicted. If they don't, then the cards flip back over. If you get two wrong matches, then the game is over.
Roulette: There are two roulette wheels, one with symbols depicting +, -, x, or /, and one depicting ten numbers ranging from 0 to 100. When you begin the game, you get to put up to 10000p on the line. Then you spin the wheels and see what you get. It's best you don't get a combination of x and 0 or / and 0.
Line up Three: There are nine cubes arranged in a 3-by-3 grid. The center cube has a set symbol out of a leaf, flame, or water drop. The other 8 move clockwise while their images shift. You touch each of the moving cubes to make the image in it stop. Once all eight are stopped, they stop moving and depending on how many instances of three in a row you got, you get anywhere from 1500p to 12000p.
