DOLPHIN BAY Mission 2: "Utilize the wraparound effects to make it to the goal." Unlocked: Clear Mission 1 Character: Ash Upgrades Applied: None On Radio: Prof. Oak Mission: Reach the Goal Gate. Detail: In this mission, you're going through a 2D-scrolling area not traversed in the stage proper. Here, there are slopes going above and below the screen as well as holes in both areas of ground and ceilings. How this mission works is that this area has what's called a wraparound effect. If you go below the bottom of the screen, you'll end up coming from the top of the screen and vice-versa. You at times must utilize this in order to make it to the end. The terrain also consists of things like waterfalls, some of which descend infinitely due to the wraparound and sometimes have logs going down them, areas of spikes, and shallow pools of water. There are also a number of Team Aqua robots getting in your way as well and halfway through the area, you'll reach an underwater area that takes advantage of the wraparound that you must swim through. Once you reach the end of the area, a Speed Cannon will send you to a vertical cliff area with a waterfall utilizing a horizontal wraparound, with holes in the walls and slopes that take advantage of the wraparound. Smaller holes have invincible Masquerain Drones that move endlessly left or right and may impede your progress. At the top of the cliffs is the Goal Gate. Go through it to clear the mission. Challenge Mode: A time limit of 4:00 is in place.

AURORA STATION Mission 6: "This place is now flooded with lava! Looks like you better not get burned!" Unlocked: Clear Mission 5 Character: Trixie Upgrades Applied: Materia On Radio: Prof. Rowan Mission: Reach Team Plasmic's tower. Detail: In this mission, you'll be going through the stage like normal, except that a massive rift has opened up in the stage, flooding much of it with lava, and cinders fill the air! Many of the stage's obstacles, such as laser fences, satellite dishes, slippery ice floors, and quicksnow are still present, but now you must also watch out for lava pools and geysers. The Team Plasmic guards and robotic foes in the stage are still present as well, although their placement has changed up a bit to make things more challenging. The path split still occurs, and the Drill Dozer path is also accessible, although this time you must be weary of lava pockets. The water in any caverns you come across is gone and is now replaced with lava that you can swim through with a Fire Shield. The giant Mamoswine robot that would attack you on the quicksnow path is gone, but the giant snow Snorlax robot is still present in an area where now large ice crystals fall onto lava, creating temporary platforms for you to use, although the same area also has fireballs that also fall down as well. When you get to the massive radio telescope dish, you still have to contend with the lasers it fires. Once you get to Team Plasmic's tower (which is still completely intact), the mission is clear. Challenge Mode: A time limit of 8:00 is in place, additionally, Trixie is wearing an Inhibit Belt.

SOLAR INFERNO Mission 4: "Make the climb upward by navigating the wraparound areas." Unlocked: Clear Mission 3 Character: Cameron Upgrades Applied: Tanks On Radio: Prof. Nanba (taunting you, that is) Mission: Reach the Goal Gate. Detail: In this mission, you're going through a 2D-scrolling area not traversed in the stage proper, an area located inside a structure. Here, you'll make your way through rooms stacked on top of one another that utilize both vertical AND horizontal wraparound effects. In each room, you must make your way to a teleporter that will send you to the next room, and will have to utilize paths going through the sides, top, and bottom of the screen. The obstacles here consist of lava pools (some which are on walls or ceilings), spikes, barriers that you need to deactivate using switches, and also lasers that may split a room into two or more pieces. There are also a couple Team Rocket guards and robots in each room that may get in your way. As you progress upward, the rooms get trickier and utilize the wraparound effects in more interesting ways (such as having to put a box on the right side on a conveyor belt that will send it onto the left side, then drop it below the bottom of the screen so it ends up coming from the top of the screen onto a switch). Once you clear the tenth and final room, the teleporter will take you to the Goal Gate above the room. Go through it to clear the mission. Challenge Mode: A time limit of 6:15 is in place. Music Notes: The Chaotic Inferno Act 2 theme from Sonic Rivals 2 plays during this mission.

Unlocked: Clear Episode EX Character: Choice (two characters, first Search-type, second Speed-type) Upgrades Applied: Tanks On Radio: None Mission: Defeat Harland, Courtney, Tabitha, Xenia, Seth, and Brad. Detail: In this mission, you'll be contending with Team Magma's and Team Flora's Admins once again, except without the luxury of healing items or other powerups. Each battle takes place in a room resembling the layout of where they were fought normally, but they've each been beefed up to match the fact that you're using the Tanks. You're given the equivalent of 1 X Health and 2 X Defend to help you out. Upon defeating a foe, a teleporter will teleport in, sending you to the next area and the next battle. Upon defeating Tabitha, you'll switch over to the second character selected upon taking the teleporter to Xenia. Upon Brad being defeated, the mission is cleared. Challenge Mode: Both of your characters now wear Inhibit Belts. Music Notes: The second original midboss track plays during this mission.

Upon defeating Butch & Cassidy, you'll switch over to the second character selected upon taking the teleporter to Annie & Oakley. Upon defeating Attila & Hun, you'll switch back over to the first character selected upon taking the teleporter to Carl. Upon defeating Sham, you'll switch back over to the second character selected upon taking the teleporter to Proton. Upon defeating Pertel, you will switch over to the third character selected upon taking the teleporter to Ariana. Upon Archer being defeated, the mission is cleared. Unlocked: Clear all Missions 10's for Molten Citadel and Rocket Core as well as Mission 9 for Rocket Core Area 3. Character: Choice (three characters, first Search-type, second Speed-type, third Shooter-type) Upgrades Applied: Tanks On Radio: None Mission: Defeat Maxie, Farlie, Gonzap, Archie, Plasmae, Greevil, Cyrus, Colress, Dralene, Lysandre, and Giovanni. Detail: In this mission, you'll be contending with all the villainous team leaders once again, except without the luxury of healing items or other powerups. Each battle takes place in an area resembling the layout of where they were battled normally. You're given the equivalent of 5 X Health and 10 X Defend and a Max Revive to help you out. Upon a foe being defeated, you'll be teleported to the next area to face the next one. The characters used goes like this; Maxie (Search), Farlie (Speed), Gonzap (Shooter), Archie (Speed), Plasmae (Shooter), Greevil (Search), Cyrus (Search), Colress (Speed), Dralene (Shooter), Lysandre (Speed), and Giovanni (all three). Upon Giovanni being defeated, the mission is cleared. Challenge Mode: You no longer have a Max Revive. Music Notes: The final boss theme from Sonic Lost World plays during this mission.
