Mega Forms: In Pokémon Peace Squad: Crystal Freeze, many characters have a Pokémon that can enter what is called a Mega Form. In order for a Mega Form to be achieved, you must first acquire a Mega Ring (which you won't be able to do until defeating Metal Sonic after clearing the first set of four Episodes). Even then, you also need to acquire the specific Mega Stone for your Pokémon, which can be found in stages, on World Maps, or purchasable in shops. Finally, you need to be using a Wii U GamePad, DS, 3DS, or 2DS as a controller in order to trigger the Mega Form, which is done by pressing the Mega Ring option on the touchscreen. Upon entering its Mega Form, the Pokémon in question will become a lot stronger, have its move changed, and much of the time, even gains a new ability! The Pokémon will remain in its Mega form as long as you remain in the stage.
Lava Swimming: In Pokémon Peace Squad Crystal Freeze, in some of the stages, you'll be able to swim in lava! In areas where lava is found, there are some deep pools of barely transparent lava. Going into these pools of lava will normally cause you to suffer damage and sink slowly in them, but if you're using a Fire Shield or Dragon Shield, you'll actually be able to go into these lava pools and swim through them as you would water! Swimming in lava works the same as swimming in water; you'll even be able to fight enemies under lava. As long as you're in lava, getting hit won't cause you to lose your Fire Shield, but you'll instead take damage. Also note that you still have an air meter of sorts, so if you stay under lava for too long, it's game over for you. Fortunately, you can still refill the air meter by collecting healing items.
Note that certain attacks don't function the same under lava as they do on the surface, while others are enhanced under lava. Water-type moves, in general, will fail to work under lava (if ranged) or hit as a Normal-type strike under lava (if melee); Fire-type moves, on the other hand, tend to increase power and/or range when used under lava. (There are also other examples among other types.) No attack can freeze a foe under lava. In fact, if a frozen foe comes in contact with lava, they will instantly defrost.
