Barrel Cannons
Barrel-shaped cannons floating in the air similar to those in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary (and in turn, are from the Donkey Kong Country series). Cannot be destroyed.
Normal Cannon: Indicated with an arrow, these are normal Barrel Cannons. When you're ready to exit one, simply press the action button.
Auto-Fire Cannon: Indicated with an explosion symbol, you're fired out of these Barrel Cannons shortly after entering them.
Warp Cannon: Indicated with a teleport symbol, going into one will bring up a split screen of another such cannon. Pressing the action button has you fire out of the second cannon. Mainly used to take you to other areas of the stage.
One-Use Cannon: Indicated with a red X, when you fire out of one of these Barrel Cannons, it explodes, preventing you from using it again.
Key Walls
Glowing green-color metallic walls or blocks with faint diamond grid patterns on them. Come in various shapes and sizes can cannot be destroyed. There is a robotic enemy labeled "KEY" in the stage (usually close to the corresponding Key Wall), much like a human enemy labeled "DEFEAT". Destroying this enemy will send out a frequency wave from it in the shape of the wall that will travel to it and cause the wall to vanish. More common in 2D areas and later in the game.
Barrier Lasers
Yellow color laser beams fired from tiny emitters that form glowing energy walls in between them. Tend to be set up in various patterns and shapes and cannot be destroyed. The lasers and walls can't damage you or anything else, but they block all attacks, both melee and ranged, and nullify them completely. Usually set up in combat-heavy areas to make fighting enemies more difficult. More common later in the game.
