Note: Whether you face Genesect or the Rocket Ultimatum after clearing Lost Desert depends on which character you're playing as. Which boss you face will remain as such until you beat the game and have an impact later in the game.
Lost Desert
Description: "A vast desert in unknown territory. Team Rocket is storing something massive under these flowing sands."
Act 1 Objectives:
-Race along the desert ruins
-Run down the deep shaft
-Enter the titanic facility
-Discover the Regicolossus army*
-Reach the factory's edge
*-This objective doesn't appear until encountering the Regicolossi.
Voice Notes: Samson Oak, RotomDex, Rebecca, and Looker use their voices from the anime. Tails uses his voice from the Sonic series games. Barret uses his voice from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. Beatrice uses an original casting for her voice.
Background Music: The first Arsenal Pyramid theme from Sonic Forces plays throughout the outside part of the stage. The second Arsenal Pyramid theme from the same game plays throughout the factory part of the stage.
Having liberated three regions from Team Rocket's regime, the rebellion has gained intel on the "factory" where dissidents against the regime and members of the rebellion that were captured have been taken to, which turns out to be within a sprawling desert that the Pokémon Peace Squad had once visited. This stage happens to be another one from the first PPS game, although it's been industrialized by Team Rocket and contains part of the Ultra Beast Control Network. The stage consists of ruins that are slowly sinking into the sands along with large rock tiers and a couple areas with switches that cause temporary ruins made of sand to rise up. It's not long before you reach areas reminiscent of Metal Harbor from Sonic Adventure 2 and Planet Wisp's construction areas from Sonic Colors, consisting of steel walkways, silos, and missiles. As you navigate the stage, you'll contend with Ultra Beasts, these ones Nihilego, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, and an encounter with a Celesteela. There are also Team Rocket robots and as a surprise, robots belonging to Dr. Wily along the way. You'll eventually reach a path going up a ruined structure before running down a deep steel shaft lined with laser grids, and enter the factory that's been spoken of. After making your way through a few twisting corridors, you'll come across exactly what is being built in this factory… Regicolossus, a behemoth robot built by Team Rocket previously in PPS2, or better yet, Regicolossi, as what looks like dozens of them are arranged in rows and columns in a colossal chamber in the factory, terrifying not just the chosen character, but those on the Pokétch radio. You'll make your way along walkways and rails far above the bottom of the chamber and go through areas where Regicolossi parts are moved along assembly lines behind massive glass panes and solve a couple steel-box moving puzzles. At one point, one of the Regicolossi will attack by bringing its arm down on the walkway and briefly climb up part of another. Eventually, you'll reach a Goal Gate at the edge of the factory and clear the stage.
