The main feature of Pokémon Peace Squad MAX is the ability of Dynamax. As you explore the stages, you'll come across Wishing Stars, which when collected will allow the chosen character to Dynamax, in which they will grow to be a couple dozen times their size. As a result, this makes exploring the stages vastly different than normal, with the ability to jump over large walls, ridges, or chasms with ease, destroy large objects or walls that not even something like Explosion can dent, climb giant grates that you would normally pass through the holes of, press down huge switches several times the chosen character's normal size, bounce on colossal springs, and even demolish normal-sized enemies by simply touching them.
When it comes to the chosen character's Pokémon, they also grow to gigantic proportions and their moves turn into Max Moves, where they become much more powerful and gain additional effects. Some Pokémon owned by characters have what are called Gigantamax forms, where in addition to growing larger, the Pokémon changes form and its move changes into G-Max Moves, which have different effects than normal Max Moves.
Also appearing in various stages are gigantic enemies that can only be damaged or destroyed when Dynamaxed as well as gigantic item capsules that can only be opened while Dynamaxed. Dynamax only lasts one minute before the chosen character returns to normal. In order to Dynamax again, you'll need to collect another Wishing Star. For Wishing Stars themselves, each stage has what's called a "master" Wishing Star capsule, which when opened, enables all other Wishing Star capsules in the stage, which otherwise appear as transparent and blank, to be opened. Once the "master" Wishing Star capsule has been opened, the other Wishing Star capsules in the stage will be permanently accessible, even after leaving the stage.
There are some stages in which there is an effect that makes the chosen character permanently Dynamaxed along with any enemies, but keeps their Pokémon's moves as normal moves. In these stages, there are sometimes items called Wishing Chips, which work the opposite of Wishing Stars, shrinking the chosen character to normal for one minute, allowing them to go through what are otherwise small holes and tunnels. Like Wishing Stars, Wishing Chips have a "master" capsule that must be opened before you can use any other ones.
